(Pictured Above: Actual Client-Full Sew In)
There are many things that you should take into consideration BEFORE getting hair extensions. At Magic in Motion Hair, we believe in educating our client in the best options to keep their hair healthy. Here are 7 things you should know:
#1 There is more than one or two ways to install hair extensions. There are many types of advanced techniques in which to create natural looking hair extensions. There are more techniques than simply bonding or sewing. There is Malaysian, Fusion, Linking, and a technique I created call Micro-stitching. Your stylist should be diverse in a variety of techniques.
#2 All human extension hair is not created equal. Hair is categorized by grades A-D (D being the lowest quality or grade). Getting extensions is an investment cheaper is not always better. You also have to be aware of lower quality hair being marketed as high quality hair. These particular brand easily tangle and cut down the time you can wear your weave or hair extensions.
#3 I am often asked, “What extension method is best for me?” Each client hair texture is different, and you may think your hair texture can support hair extensions healthfully when in reality it cannot. At Magic in Motion Hair, complimentary consultations are available to determine the extension service that is right for you.
#4 Do care for the hair. Getting hair extensions does not give you permission to not properly maintain the extension hair, Your hair underneath the hair, or to have the hair serviced. It is still best for the health of your hair to come in to get your hair shampooed and properly conditioned while wearing extensions.
#5 If you wear sewn in extensions be sure after shampooing and conditioning, to dry under a hooded dryer. Air drying is bad for your hair because your hair can actually mold or develop an odor underneath. Always, Always, completely dry sew in extensions under a hooded dryer.
#6 DO let KNOWLEDGEABLE TRAINED professional complete your extension services. All hairstylists are not created equal, and a weave improperly installed will be visibly poor, unnatural looking and in some cases can damage and take out your hair.
#7 You may be wondering, "how do you know if your stylist is trained in extension application?" Majority of extension class certifications provide CERTIFICATES. LOOK FOR THEM. Be sure to ask your stylist lots of questions and ask to see BEFORE and AFTER shots of their work. It is sad to say, but some stylist take (STEAL) pictures off the web and claim as their own and you the client, end up disappointed in the end. Trust your gut feeling.
Well that is seven things you should know before getting hair extensions. I hope you have enjoyed the information from a stylist trained by the best in the industry.
